Our events provide people and families with fun, interactive learning opportunities, and introduce community members to the benefits of active, healthy lifestyles. In partnership with the Texas Education Agency, ACTIVE Life, an Austin-based nonprofit organization is proud to announce that the first annual It's Time School Summit was held in Austin, Texas on June 20-21, 2011. The It's Time School Summit was a first-of-its-kind event that brought together and empowered a diverse community of coordinated school health champions to build and sustain healthier communities across Texas and the nation.

History of Demand Healthy Week

On May 5, 2010, ACTIVE Life asked people and places across the country to show their support for healthy, active lifestyles by creating and sharing Moments of physical activity (Move), healthy eating (Fuel) and personal and environmental health (Honor). We called this day-long initiative Make the Movement Day (MMD), and the end results demonstrated the powerful effects of what can happen when an energetic and committed community works together.

By the end of the day, nearly 90,000 Moments of health had been organized and shared in 43 states. MMD participants of all ages took part in healthy, active Moments like school-wide health marches, healthy office picnics and community-wide run/walks, and for one incredible day we were unified in our mission of promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
