Milstead is proud to have 3 students place in this year's district Punt, Pass & Kick competition!! This is the first year that both the boy and girl winners in the same age division came from Milstead! Rock on!!

HEB Healthy Community Challenge

Milstead Middle School has accepted HEB's challenge to "Make Healthy the Norm." Our school needs your help! Come out next Thursday, October 17 to our "Walk Against Drugs" Family Fitness Night and sign the parent pledge showing your support of making our school a healthy environment. We can earn points by taking pictures of you with your pledge and uploading it to our HEB school profile. Thanks for your support!

Walk for Sight Money Due

This is just a reminder to all students who have been raising money for Walk for Sight - your envelopes are due this Friday, October 11, 2013. Please turn in all money to your PE teacher. Next Saturday, October 19 we will celebrate with the culminating 2-mile walk around the football stadium. There you will receive your t-shirt. Thank you for helping us raise awareness and money to support those students who are in need of eyeglasses but can't afford them.

Punt, Pass & Kick Tryouts

Tryouts for Punt, Pass & Kick are well underway here at Milstead! The girls have almost completed all three components while the boys will start their competition next week. The top 2 male and female finishers in each age group - 10/11 and 12/13 - will earn a spot in our district competition on Monday, October 14, 2013. There they will compete against area middle schools where the winner in each age division will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at a Houston Texans football game. Good luck, Phoenix!!

Milstead's Talent Show

The school year is wrapping up, which means it's time for the Annual Talent Show where our 5th and 6th grade students can showcase their many and varied talents! Dust off those dance shoes and warm up your vocal cords as we prepare for a great event! Tryouts will be held Wednesday, May 22 after school from 4:15-6:00pm. There will be two shows on Tuesday, June 4 so that all students have a chance to watch and cheer on their friends. The 6th grade viewing of the Talent Show will be held at 9 a.m. while the 5th graders will watch it at 2 p.m.

BIG Thanks for Helping Us SAVE LIVES!!

A huge THANK YOU is in order for all of those who helped us save lives by partnering with the American Heart Association to raise money through our Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart events! Our combined efforts raised a total of $3,624.65!!! Every dollar counts as we continue to fight against our nation's #1 and #3 killers - heart disease and stroke. Thank you for allowing your children to be "heart heroes" and make a difference in the lives of others.
