Our Cause

Make Healthy the Norm.

The declining health of Americans is not merely the result of increased obesity, overweight and diabetes rates. Rather, the negative health outcomes are the result of a culture and society in which unhealthy has become the norm.

Traditional approaches have had little impact because they are disconnected from a larger, cultural change solution. Healthy culture change requires a community of committed people, places and organization sufficient in size to make healthy the norm. To create and sustain this community of health advocates and activists, an organized cause must exist.

In addition to creating and sustaining communities, a cause serves as the “glue” to pull together independent efforts and resources. It also maximizes the impact of these efforts and resources by focusing them in a unified direction.

For a cause to be effective, however, it must be organized. In America’s history, the social movement framework has proven to be the most effective vehicle for organizing and sustaining pro-social, cultural change.

While most Americans do not fully understand the breadth and depth of our health crisis, there is growing awareness that a crisis exists. A unifying cause and an organized movement are needed to turn this awareness into action. A leader is needed to help define the health movement’s objectives and organize and sustain its operation. We are America’s first organization to engineer a comprehensive plan to implement and rapidly advance the movement for healthy change.

We are reframing the obesity epidemic crisis by presenting a collaborative, solution-oriented cause that all people and organizations can understand and support.
