ACTIVE Life is helping Austin / Travis County become Tobacco Free!
Tobacco consumption continues to be the leading preventable cause of illness and death. ACTIVE Life has been awarded a 2-year grant through the City of Austin in order to combat tobacco consumption using 3 different strategies: Target Marketing, Workplace Policies and Environmental Impact. Our mission at ACTIVE Life is to create and sustain a healthy community by promoting healthy lifestyles.

- Estimated annual smoking-related health care costs per smoker = $2,016 (Texas, 2004)

Set up an an appointment to learn how adopting tobacco-free policies is good for business. Adopting a tobacco-free policy is a process that takes time and communication. IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
ACTIVE Life hosted an event that demonstrated the effects of tobacco litter on our community. For one whole month many tobacco-litter clean-up events took place in which volunteers at different days and times helped pick up tobacco litter in Parks throughout Austin. A display was created in order to showcase the 54,154 cigarette-butts that were cleaned up.
One of the litter pick up events that took place included an audit activity in which volunteers documented their observation of tobacco litter compared with other litter at a total of 20 parks in Austin.
